The journey began when our founder, Sandra Slatter, was invited by Heathcote Health CEO Dan Douglass to join the hospital’s newly formed Dementia Village Steering Group as a community representative. During this time, Sandra identified a broader need: to prepare Heathcote to become a Dementia Friendly Community. From this insight, she gathered a small but committed group of dementia advocates who would go on to form the foundation of what became  known as Heathcote Dementia Alliance (HDA).

This webinar focused on the power of green spaces to support well-being and healthy aging. Speakers explored the health benefits of nature, inclusive design principles, and sustainability in green space development.

We are incredibly grateful to Freemasons Foundation Victoria for their generous grant of $33,900, which has helped bring Freemasons Way to life – over 2 kilometres of accessible walking trails at Reflections at Eppalock.

The GreenConnect Dementia Respite project has grown into a vital initiative for the Loddon-Mallee thanks to the dedication of a committed team and the leadership of Sandra Slatter, our founding Project Manager.

At Dementia Alliance, our mission is to ensure that people living with dementia and their carers—regardless of cultural background—receive respectful, person-centered care that honors their heritage, language, and traditions.

Dementia Alliance was honoured to recently host Naoko Suzuki, Associate Professor at the Center for Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning at Tokushima University, one of our valued collaborators. During her two-day visit, Professor Suzuki immersed herself in learning about how Dementia Alliance engages with the community and implements its innovative care models.
